A wakeup call at 8a.m in the morning which I wasnt looking forward to having slept at 3 the night before to watch the Olympic reruns starts the story off. Ijoy's ship had docked at Port Klang the night before and Hannah's excitement to meet him couldnt be contained! I was a little skeptical about going in the first place but; a friend in need, is a friend indeed.
Irony was, the first person that came to mind when thinking of going on long drives to alien places was only a text message away BUT I refrained myself from making contact. Self-control peja, self-control.
A pit-stop at UIA PJ to pick up Dan and 45 minutes later, we were standing on the edge of the ocean, the taste of salt on our lips, surrounded by heavy machineries, large rusty metal containers and ships the size of blue whales, and all with the inept feeling of how minuscule we were. It was omfg scary! From afar, we saw Ijoy and he greeted us with his usual I'm-better-than-you look. Then, came the unexpected;
"Jom la naik"
At first, I thought he had to be joking. I wasnt even sure whether we were allowed on board but he assured us there was nothing to worry about and took us aboard the Bunga Teratai 3. You see, there were all these guys wearing different colored overalls and safety helmets, covered in oil, gunk and sweat, doing heavy work giving us weird looks as if we werent meant to be there. We were like little kids high on sugar! He took us up to his cabin which was wayyyyy better than what I had pictured in mind. It was even air-conditioned okaaayy! I give it 3 stars! ***
Ijoy still had some work to do so we mucked around in his humble little abode climbing up the double decker beds, fooling around in the shower and eating food Ijoy had nicked for us from the pantry. haha :) Dan helped himself to Ijoy's stock of duty-free cigarettes without any guilt whatsoever. That will probably last him a week, tops. Later on, the cadet wanted to take us up onto the ship bridge, but we were outta luck as there was an audit going on or something. At the end of the day, at least one person was smiling from ear to ear ;) Tak SEPI lagi.
