Post-season analysis.

With last week's game against Edinburgh, the BUCS season is done and dusted for the uni basketball team. And I have to say, it ended on quite a sour note having had an absolute fantastic unbeatable winning streak in the League Games. We made the playoffs, being top in division 1A and we had games against Nottingham Trent and Edinburgh to decide who goes to the Premier Division for next season. and I can say, we screwed that up !

Against Nottingham Trent, who were the Midlands conference champions, we were on FIREEEE..... at least up till the last 2 minutes or-so. They had 3 national players but they were pretty much the only people who touched the ball. And the most frustrating thing was, we threw away a 15-point lead to lose the game in the dying seconds. Pobre.

With Edinburgh however, it was a kinda different story all together. First, we had the disadvantage of playing an away game, which meant that not only did we have to sit through a four and a half hour bus ride all the way North of England, (and by the time we were there, everyone just wanted to sleep) , but they also had the upper hand of cheering home supporters. And they made full use of it ! With that said, losing to them dint feel as bad because they kinda were the better team anyway. They had set plays and an evenly distributed team where as we were just completely lost on offence and defence ! We had a few great moments when we were passing the ball around but other than that, it wasnt a game to be proud of. No rebounds on either end, cheap turnovers. tsk tsk.

I've just come back from the last training session of the season and I have to say I felt bummed that its ending so soon. How else am I gonna stay fit and what the hell am I going to do on Monday evenings nowadays! :(
On a more cheerful note however, the team has done absolutely great the whole season and lets hope we come back next year more mature and ready to kick some ass! We still have the Christie cup on Wednesday, and then the curtains close on what has been an awesome, awesome season for the University of Manchester Women's basketball team.
