Been reading a number of articles lately. ‘Nation’ related articles; serious stuff I know right? Just when I thought I’d leave all the seriousness up to my other half, I guess I’ve grown to appreciate ‘serious. I guess he has rubbed off on me. Anyways, today’s post is going to be.. serious. Yeah I think I’ve mentioned the word serious a couple of times now. So be prepared for my train of thoughts.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions right? It’s a free country. But what if, everybody wants to speak and be heard? If you ask me, I’d say only God can fulfill everybody’s wants and needs. Ask the President, not everybody benefits. You know the student's longings to have a voice, to speak up, to be heard, to be the change that shapes the future nation? I totally get it but that doesnt mean making a big ruckus by taking down some flag, and hoisting your own. Last I checked, it isnt the battle of Waterloo.
Everybody has dreams. Big dreams. Everyone thinks they know whats best for everyone else. And if everyone were as selfish as those who are fighting for their own agendas just because the political system can be manipulative and corruptive, don't go comparing our country to other countries be it developing/developed and use religion as a means to gain political mileage. No war, no famine, stable, developing, family, friends, neighbours, no epidemic, nobody trying to 'liberate' us, cultures, religions, good food, no genocides, no occupying forces, no massacres, not a failing state and so the list goes on. Please my friends, tell me how we are suffering in Malaysia?
However so, I still agree that things back home need a MAJOR revamping. I happened to come across an article which said something like “it’s not about what the country can do for you but what YOU can do for the country” #WORD. If you can get seventeen thousand Malaysians to have that kind of thinking, I’m pretty sure we won’t make it to the article of “shame” for people to continuously pour their dissatisfaction.

I respect the ones who actually channel their thoughts and opinions through the appropriate methods. You know, an act to stop students participating in politics does not prevent a freedom of speech. Students voices can still be heard through respecting student bodies and societies. It doesnt have to be political! That just shows how you've narrowed your thinking instead of looking at the bigger picture. I was fortunate enough to have been given a chance to study abroad and it saddens me to see that the y-generation at home continue to fight for a petty cause when there's just so much more ways they can channel your potential to.
Also, if this was a tweet I’d so end with a hash tag #justsayin’.
