#EasterTrippin' - Naples and Pompeii

So I guess, we left Cinque Terre with some unfinished business and we all made a promise to ourselves that we'll definitely come back one day. InsyaAllah. Heading on to the next leg of our trip, we had to take the overnight train from Cinque Terre to Napoli.

It was a first for everyone and boy, were we in for a shock! Upon alighting the train, the characters that we encountered were, least to say... dodgy! The scene was like something out of an old italian mob movie. The train was packed, people standing in corridors, peering at us from underneath their paperboy caps, most of them had rough looks about them, and shadowed faces in the dim lights of the train corridors. The boys got separated into different compartments and when we got to ours, there were already three dodgy grown men in there.

And I know everyone said they wouldnt be able to sleep, but Syasya, the first person to profusely mention it, was also the first person out like a light! Pfft. So in the end, I forced myself to keep wide-eyed and vigilant. Somebody had to keep an eye on the bags! Only when the sun had come up slightly, was I able to get some shut eye. I would have felt safer with you around.

Check out them lemons!

Right after we checked in at the hotel, it was destination: Pompeii, the ruined city! As with all parts of Italy, there's a lot of history to it. I dont think the boys appreciated it as much as the girls did though. There stood me and Wowo, with our maps and handheld information thingy-ma-jigs trying to picture a once glorious empire and they were more concerned about taking nice instagram pictures! Lols. I felt bad dragging them around for a whole day looking at nothing but crumbled walls and faded wall paints.

See what I mean? Lol

When we got back to Napoli, everyone was beat from a day's walking but we forced ourselves out that night for a taste of supposedly the best margherita pizza in Napoli: L'antica Pizzeria! Wowo had heard about this and it was even featured in the Movie Eat, Pray, Love starring Julia Roberts, so obviously we had to get in on the action!

We had to take a number and queue for more than half an hour, in the pouring rain just to get a seat. Now thats dedication!

Heyyyy, funfact no:1, Did you know that Napoli is the capital for the Italian Mafia family, known as the Camorra? So, a walk around Napoli town during the night was clearly a mistake, getting stuck in the middle of the dodgy, dirty city where even the likes of policemen look like they could turn around and stab you. Apparently the mafia even control the garbage disposal which even after reading numerous articles, I dont really understand why and why there is so much rubbish in the city. So if someone knows, please, enlighten me.

I'll leave you with a short video that we made while messing about waiting for our ride to Capri.
