I wasnt even supposed to go anywhere this summer but my Wanderlust (and slight envy) got the better of me and I bought the next flight out to.... Portugal!!! Being that I'm not really supposed to take days off during the week due to clinics still running at the Dental Hospital, we'll have to keep this a hush-hush, and hope none of the tutors from the Dental school stumbles upon this. Lol.
This adventure was filled with spontaneity a lot a surprises right from the very beginning! Not only did I decide to go with the group at the very last minute, but also Lisa decided to fly in all the way from Malaysia for the summer and join us. It was like summer 2012 all over again. Minus half the #GraduationTrip crew. Ahhh nostalgiaaaa...
Well, despite not joining the #SummerBomb crew initially, I was still helping them out with their itinerary, helping book hotels and things for them to do as most of them were busy tackling exams. They were gonna go to a few places around Europe and had asked for help mapping out the deets for them to roughly follow. I was looking at the dates that the guys were gonna be in Portugal and in the end, I just couldnt help myself! I had heard of how pretty The Algarves was but really, I had to see it for myself to actually believe it. And what a stunner!
^^Will you just look at that view, subhanAllah!^^
We managed to cover quite a lot on the first day, going dolphin watching, relaxing on the beautiful beach - The Praia do Camillo and to top off the day, watching the breath taking sunset at Cabo Sao Vincente in Sagres. Although we didnt manage to catch any dolphins in action, the fun high-speed boat ride and preview of the grottos did make up for most of the morning. Everyone seemed to enjoy getting a bit of a tan on at the beach and the blue waters was definitely tempting us for a swim. We chatted on the beach mostly, about ourselves and current happenings. It was nice getting to know the others.
^^Cabo Sao Vincente, Sagres, the southwestern tip of Europe, where the view of the sunset will take your breath away^^
^^And then there was just a moment of silence, as all six of us watched the sun disappear within the distant waters. Alhamdulillah for the opportunity to witness this majestic occurance.^^
We headed back to Lagos for dinner that night and had some of the finest and freshest seafood dishes we've ever tasted. I would definitely recommend The Caravela restaurant in town to anyone who is visiting the area. I had the yummiest green shell mussels cooked in the house's special 'Caravela sauce'. Hmm nom nom! :)
Just a little off topic now. Today's a special day for muslims all around as we believe its the day our book of deeds for the year get replaced. So from today onwards, it'll be a new leaf, in our new books. Our chance at a new beginning, so here's to a good start and istiqamah in good deeds for the new year! InsyaAllah.
Love,
