I'm currently in the comfort of my cottonsheet duvet enjoying a light breeze of the south coast summer coming in through the half open window. Yesterday there was a massive heatwave that swept all of Britain and it probably was the hardest day of Ramadhan so far. It's been great though. The 19 plus hours hasnt been all that bad and I'm praying that it stays this way for the next 15 days to go. Cant believe we're almost half way through!
Trying to limit my travelling up to London over the weekends nowadays since I intend on saving some money to go backpacking USA sometime soon ;), I have managed to find time to squeeze in a little catch up post. I'll share more a bit later but I just wanted to pop in and post some photos of the pretty swell company I've had in the recent days.
So what were the chances that these pretty ladies were back here with me on British soil, at the same time?! I couldnt have been more luckier! If you guys must know, these two... oh man, they were my rock when I was at my worst. These two were the ones who picked me up when I was at my lowest and who reminded me that I was not alone.
I was all kinds of happy when these lot decided to make the 5hour drive down from Manchester to come spend a weekend in the Hastings sun! The weather that weekend was scorching for early summer and I'm so glad it held up cause if there is one thing I would vouch for being better down south, it would be the weather and thank goodness it delivered! Although everyone had to squeeze into my small little flat, it was really nice to have hosted them. As you can probably tell, I like having good company around! :)
I took them round the Oldtown and had some really good fish & chips lunch by the fisherman's wharf. I studied Hastings' history so I could enlighten them with stories about this quaint little town. And because we also had a car at our disposal, we were also able to explore parts of the East Coastal line which I've always wanted to do so badly!
^^Upon recommendation from some of my nurses, they told me that Camber Beach in Rye would be a nice weekend out, to enjoy the sandy dunes and beaches for a change. Most of the East Sussex coastline is made up of pebbled beaches, spanning from Brighton to Hastings and Camber is the exception. Our visit was short and sweet - due to the fact that strong winds and loose sand did not make a neat combo! By the time we were defeated, there was even sand between our buttcheeks and trust me, that wasnt comfortable!
We also managed to have a wee little stroll, out in the Seven Sisters Country Park that weekend! I had always wanted to go an explore but never really finding the time or company to go with, soI jumped at the opportunity when the guys said they were coming to town. Although I really wanted to experience the hike up the actual cliffs, it proved slightly difficult when you've got a temperamental toddler and a heavily laden stroller with your picnic goodies.
Its been astonishingly busy these past couple of weeks so I havent had adequate time to properly sit down and write. Because my posts normally calls for some invigorating thought processes before they are laid down in order so I hope you have enjoyed my little catch up posts now and then!
Here's to welcoming summer and more heatwaves to come!
