Waheeyyyy! So its week two of #DrChomsInHastings! One thing I can take away from almost a fortnight of work is that it is, EXHAUSTING! When friends who have been working for a couple of years always moan and complain that they cant do late night burger ramly's with me on my rare visits back home (burger ramlys are only the best roadside burgers everrrr), I always get really annoyed when they say they're too tired, or they've got work the next day. Little did I know....
But... work has been really good so far. I've been surprised at the stark difference between being treated like a dental student as compared to being looked at as a colleague/dentist! My trainers have given me a frighteningly high amount of freedom when it comes to treating my patients, nurses have been the best support (and tea-makers) so far and even the 70 year-old receptionist hasnt been stingy on her favorite Italian recipes! So far, so good! and as for the work blues, they havent caught up with me just yet. I'm always quite excited every morning to go to work eventhough I have to leave the house an hour early to make my way in on the not very occasional buses that go that way. Makes you kinda miss the fact that Manchester had one of the busiest bus routes in Europe or that I havent got Portia (thats my bike) down with me in the south.
House progress, I've finally been able to snag myself a bargain fridge! Home-cooked meals FTW!! I was lucky enough that my trainer, Gavin heard me talking to the guy on the phone and he offered to come take a look at it with me just to ensure I wasnt being cheated. And when it came to transporting the heavy load up to my apartment, I was just lucky enough (again!) that one of my builder neighbours, Luke was on hand to help the cause. Like I've said before, this transition has been made easy for me and I can never say alhamdulillah enough. I know for sure that the Big Guy up there is definitely looking out for me! I've also gotten myself a makeshift wardrobe which isnt really my ideal room fit, but with money running like a stream atm, it'll have to make do for now. I'm down to 2 more boxes and one suitcase to unpack and I'm hoping by the end of next week, when I finally get my bed in place and internet up and running, it'll feel a bit more homey, fingers crossed!
I'm gonna try and go for a run today, but I might just stay off the hills until I get my stamina back. I'm determined to try and find the good in this quiet, little old town!
